Divorce

Strategic guidance through one of life's most significant transitions.

Strategic Representation for Divorce

During our initial strategy meeting, we'll explore your options, provide expert legal advice, and collaboratively identify the process that suits your unique needs, as well as those of your family and situation. Whether it's crafting parenting plans, navigating equitable distribution, or addressing alimony and support issues, our law firm is dedicated to ensuring you receive a fair outcome and what you truly deserve. Remember, knowledge is power, and it's the crucial first step toward embarking on an incredible new chapter in your life. Let us guide you through this journey with confidence and support.

General Litigation

The most common method of divorcing, used when couples have challenges coming to agreements. The good thing to know: most matters eventually settle so that a trial is not necessary. However, when one side refuses to be reasonable, the judge assigned to your case will make difficult decisions within the confines of the law. Ms. Yaffa has over 30 years of litigation experience and is Board Certified in Marital and Family Law since 2001.

Mediation

The process of coming together with a qualified mediator who will help bridge gaps and work with the parties and their respective attorneys on a compromise. If you resolve your matter at mediation, the agreement will be incorporated into an enforceable final judgment. Best for clients looking to settle and who feel they have a good chance of working through differences. Note: most judges and circuits require the parties to mediate even in traditional litigation cases.

Collaborative Divorce

Sometimes referred to as conscious uncoupling — the parties, together with their collaboratively trained lawyers, work as a team including a neutral mental health and financial professional to help reach a balanced, respectful agreement and avoid trial. Most couples walk away feeling positive about the outcome and often maintain a better co-parenting relationship. Best for clients who want to end their marriage on peaceful, productive terms.

Limited Representation

Available to clients who don't need or want a lawyer for all aspects of their family law matter but need an attorney to assist on specific issues — such as representing them at mediation, a hearing for temporary relief, or trial. Best for clients with limited resources or who have most issues resolved but need targeted assistance.

DIY With Us (SplytUp Services)

For those who have mostly agreed on the main issues but still want the advice and guidance of a divorce attorney. Clients assist in completing the necessary forms, are guided step-by-step through the process, and meet with their assigned lawyer by telecommunication to finalize all documents. These clients benefit from getting through their divorce or paternity matter sooner and reduced legal fees as a result of their own efforts. Best for uncontested or near-uncontested matters with uncomplicated issues.
